I use Yahoo for my domain ownership. Would I keep this and just set up different DNS settings so the email would go through Nomad?
Yes, you can keep your domain registration with any registrar. All you need to do is change a few DNS records. Here are the records you will need to create, but do not make the changes until your accounts set up on the Nomad servers. In these examples, change thesmallbusinessfactory.com with your domain name.
Record: thesmallbusinessfactory.com
Type: MX
Value: mx1.nomademail.com
Record: mail.thesmallbusinessfactory.com
Type: CNAME
Value: mx1.nomademail.com
Record: thesmallbusinessfactory.com
Type: TXT
Value: v=spf1 a mx a:mx1.nomademail.com -all
Does the $14.95/month per mailbox include shared email folders, shared calendar, shared tasks and shared address book?
Yes the $14.95 month per mailbox includes shared email folders, shared calendar, shared tasks and shared address book among all Nomad users in your domain. Note, once the DNS records are changed, ALL mail users for that domain must use Nomad. (To ensure that you haven't overlooked it, there is a one time $14.95 per mailbox setup fee.)
Can I sync with Outlook to populate the calendar, address books and tasks and globally make all items shared between our 2 users?
Yes. Outlook 2003 & 2007 can connect to Nomad. We have an import tool that will expedite the migration of your existing mail, contacts, and calendar entries to Nomad. We also have a connector that will allow Outlook to talk directly to Nomad. While you're at the office you can use Outlook (2003 or 2007) on the road or anywhere else, you can use the Nomad web interface which provides all of the functions of Outlook.
Would I sync (just tasks, contacts and address book) directly from Nomad to my smart phone, or through Outlook (which is what I do now)?
That is up to you. Nomad can handle "over the air syncing" if your phone (and cellular service) allows it. This is the preferred method as your email, contacts, and calendar will always be synchronized. If your phone is not capable of over the air synchronizing, you can still use a cradle to sync your phone if you choose, but it is more cumbersome to do so. (We only use the "over the air sync".)
What does Nomad Cost?
$15 a month a mailbox (50 cents a day) for 1 gig of storage and all features. Additional storage available for $2.50 a gig a month. Price breaks at 10, 50, 100, 500, 1000, 5000 users.
How do I use Nomad?
Nomad can be simultaneously used as a replacement for an exchange server in conjunction with Outlook 2003 and as a web portal for complete handling and sharing of your email, calendar, and contacts..
What do I do with my existing email, calendar, and contacts?
Nomad can import all eMail, calendar, and contacts automatically for any Outlook user. We have tools available for migrating Thunderbird contacts and eMail.
What is the backup schedule?
Your Nomad account is backed up everyday on a 10 day rotation. This means if there is any data loss, we can go back 10 days to locate the missing data. More frequent and long backup cycles can be custom quoted.
Who is Nomad ideally suited for?
Nomad can handle from 1 to 10000 mailboxes. That makes it suitable for individuals, small organizations unable to afford a Microsoft Exchange Server, and large organizations looking to contain costs by outsourcing the handling of their email, shared calendar and contacts. |
